FAQs
What is the Women's Resource Center?
A: The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is a division of Student Affairs at Truman State University. We are a politically neutral organization that seeks to provide informative and innovative programming and events for the men and women of TSU and the Kirksville community. The WRC is focused on women and gender issues, and serves everyone on the campus.
Where are you located?
A: Hey, we've moved! The WRC is now located in the Student Invovlement section of the SUB. Our new mailing address is:

100 East Normal
Kirksville, MO 63501-4221How can I contact the WRC?
A: You can contact us in the Center at 785-7224, or by email at wrc@truman.edu.
How did the WRC start?
A: The WRC is unique as a campus organization in that it is student-initiated, student-lead, and student-focused. In 1989, several students asked the administration to fund and house a women-focused center. Student Affairs became the sponsor for the then WomenÂ’s Center, and over the years the Women’s Resource Center developed with their own space in Ryle Hall, and a university budget.
Do you offer paid positions?
A: No. The WRC offers only scholarship, work-study, and volunteer positions.
Why isn't there a Men's Resource Center?
A: The WRC was brought about because of a widely expressed need and student-driven initiative to create a women's center. As of yet, there has not been a similar demand for a men's resource center on campus, which should not to be taken as the fault of the WRC. Due to the lack of a men's resource center, the WRC tries to make all our programming and services, though primarily women-focused, beneficial to men as well.
Do I have to be female to work with the WRC?
A: Absolutely not. We generally have several male staff members in any given year. We also have men serving on our Executive Board. We welcome all genders who are interested in working with our mission.
Do you have a political affiliation?
A: No. The Center strives to provide politically neutral programming and events. We believe that by giving TSU women and men the opportunity to learn, discuss, and listen, each one of us will be better equipped to form educated opinions on the political and social issues surrounding us. We adhere to no religious or political agenda.
