What day is it? It's INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY! Today we celebrate the achievements of women from all over the world without regard to national, cultural, linguistic, economic, political, or ethnic divisions. Today (and everyday) is the day to appreciate, thank, empower, and be inspired by all the strong women across the world and in your daily life.
The theme for the 2019 International Women's Day is #balanceforbetter. This theme is meant to address the need for inclusion and equality in leadership, health, education, and all other areas of life. When you are posting about International Women's Day today, use the #balanceforbetter hashtag to raise awareness.

In order to celebrate the day, here are some quotes about empowerment, feminism, and equality from some famous women:
-"Do not live someone else's life and someone else's idea of what womanhood is. Womanhood is you." -Viola Davis.
-"No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens." -Michelle Obama.
-"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." -Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
-"Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women." -Maya Angelou

To celebrate the last day of Black History Month, today we are talking about Audre Lorde. She lived from February 18th, 1934 until November 17, 1992. Lorde was a writer, a feminist, a civil rights activist, and a poet. She empowered people through her poetry by writing about injustices such as racism, sexism, and homophobia. In 1981, Lorde was among the founders of the women’s coalition of St.Croix which was dedicated to helping women who survived sexual abuse and intimate partner violence.
One of Audre Lorde's famous quotes is, "When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength as a service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid."
Happy Black History Month!
