Factoid #4: Federal funding for endometriosis research is scarce. In 2018, endo received only $7 million of the NIH’s $37.7 billion budget. That equates to less than $1 per woman that suffers from endometriosis in the U.S. This already minute amount of money is predicted to continue decreasing. You can find out why and how this funding cut affects women living with endo in this article from Cosmo.

Who We Are

Truman State University’s Women’s Resource Center is a student-led, nonpartisan organization focused on educating students on physical, mental, and sexual health topics. The WRC also puts on a number of events for the student body, often connected to women and gender-related issues. In addition, we are capable of providing students with a variety of free resources as well as peer-to-peer counseling.

The WRC provides a plethora of brochures and informational pamphlets on multiple topics on physical, mental, or sexual health, as well as feminist literature and movies within the center for any student to check out for free. We also stock women’s and gender-neutral bathrooms with free tampons across campus. Some of the resources we provide in our center (for free!) include:

  • External Condoms (Latex or Non-Latex)
  • Dental Dams
  • Lube (Water or Silicone)
  • Pads
  • Tampons
  • Toothbrushes
  • Hair Ties
  • Peer-to-Peer Counseling

… And much more!

  • 1109C Student Union Building (SUB)
  • Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

When we are not tabling on-campus, we are found in the SUB on the lowest level (near the SUB Down Under), right across from the Funds Allotment Council and across the hall from the men’s bathroom. We can sometimes be hard to find, but make no mistake, we’re there!
